“It was about how politics work, we got ideas from all the kids and we put it all into one script. I was nervous to perform in front of a big crowd but I got through it.”

ELECTION imagines eleven-year-olds as political bigwigs with the power to make real change.
They want to end war, lower food prices, and tax the rich - and they also want no school ever.

“We got some of our words in the script ‘cause Bishop came to NEA and did a workshop where we got to speak into a microphone and say what we’d do as prime minister”

The project sees local 10-12 year olds take part in a series of politically-engaged workshops in their school or community group, contributing to a political manifesto. The manifesto is then performed in public space by a cast of local children.

“I felt proud of myself after doing the performance, there was so many people watching and I actually did it. When I finished I was like wow, I did that!”
